It is better because with hot water heat we have more control over the distribution of heat or energy to a space. There are a wide variety of
systems and equipment that can be used to heat a space from radiators to baseboard to fans to the floor or wall of the room itself.

Doesn't the tubing that runs under or in a floor or wall damage the structure?
No, not if the system is designed correctly, this is because a properly designed system takes into account the space being heated, the materials and the goal is not to heat floor surface for example past 82 degrees f.

Can I use a hot water heater as my heat source?
Yes, but... a hot water heater is designed to heat potable water. It heats the water but there is not the control nor the efficiency provided by a boiler for heating purposes.

Can I install radiant heat in a house with baseboard?
Yes, most systems can be retrofitted, there are a wide variety of products that can be adapted too many different construction methods. Radiant can be retrofitted into a small bathroom or an entire house. The northeast has many opportunities for retrofitting.
